Description

This auction is for 5 Postcards from Olive w. Peabody. Be sure to check out my other postcards and letters also.
Olive was born in 1886 to Albert L. Whipple and his wife Grace. Why and how did Philip Glendower Peabody come to adopt Olive Lawrence Whipple. Perhaps in some way or other these families were related. There is a house of historical importance; The John Whipple House which is a historic colonial house at 53 South Main Street in Ipswich, Massachusetts. Built in the seventeenth century, the house has been open to the public as a museum since 1899, and was the subject of some of the earliest attempts at the preservation of colonial houses. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960, one of the earliest properties to receive that honor. This family of Olive's are descendants of the early Whipples in America.
