AMAZING Large Size 18.5" Vintage BARONNE SANDRA BELLING
Syrian Cloth MALE Doll 1930s EXCELLENT!
Stockinette over wire armature, I had never seen one this large or grand by Belling before I found this one--he's been in my personal collection a long time! (Hate to part with him!) Marked with a Kimport cloth tag, the large size shows
off
Belling's artistry so well. Dressed in cream silk blousy pants & long robe, wrapped at the waist with multicolor Persian silk. Long over-sleeves split at the wrist & are embroidered in dark geometric patterns. Dark blue wool long-sleeved vest covered with black embroidery.
Outer short-sleeved robe of black scratchy wool (dyed camel cloth?) with gold geometric embroidery trim & black/gold tassels down front; black & silver silk headdress. A handmade miniature sword is tucked into his belt. Hand-painted needle-sculpted face; needle-sculpted feet with painted toenails.
Very nice condition, minor surface soil, a few extraneous marks on face, overall excellent for its age.
