Lot Letters by the Alden Family of Pawnee City, Nebraska 1909
    Description:
Letters by the Alden Family of Pawnee City, Nebraska. Nebraska: 1909. Four letters from Gertrude Alden and A.G. Alden who lived near Burchard and Pawnee City Nebraska (postmarks are from Pawnee City but one letter mentions that Burchard is closer to home, while the mail routed through Pawnee City). Each two to four pages in length. The letters discuss the whereabouts and status of various family members and also mention conditions at home--snowfall, agriculture, "this is a good farming country. Mostly corn 8 Hogs some wheat," and sickness--A.G. Alden mentions rheumatism and shaky nerves and apologizes several times for the shaky hand he has written in (though the letters are still readable with effort). Gertrude Alden has added onto one of these letters, describing A.G. as a "very old and sick man." Letters in very good condition, a bit toned. Envelopes a bit soiled, one envelope damaged.  [4130]
