Lot of vintage early 1940's letters, correspondence and ephemera belonging to Harold Fellenbaum of Mount Joy(near Lancaster?) Pennsylvania during WWII and his training in the U.S. Navy. Letters are mostly from his mother, but some are from friends, and girlfriends including:
approx 43 letters dated 1943 to Harold Fellenbaum while at USNTS at Bainbridge, MD while in naval training and from USNFPS Middletown CT. Most from his mother Mrs. Rueben Fellenbaum of Mt. Joy, PA. Some from a girl Sue I think, don't have last name, of Richmond, VA- or at least that is where she was at school.  Some letters spoke of his extreme disappointment going to the Navy instead of the Air Corp. Becoming a Sailor, much of his activities while in training, life at home while he is away. There are a couple letters from his brother John Fellenbaum of Manheim, PA.
approx 43 letters from 1944 to Harold whitle he was in NTS  in Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. and in SCTC TRaining -Small Craft Training Center- Terminal Island, Roosevelt Base, Sand Pedro, CA. from his family, from Sara Habecker of Phila, PA, from Harrold to parents. Letters from Harold are on Navy letterhead, talking about training, turning 20 years old, heat in California.

approx. 11 letters from 1945 - 1948. To Harold from Mother, from Harold to parents, one letter from Aunt Sara of Phila PA. Looks like this was at the end of his training in Roosevelt Island, CA.  One letter to his parents discusses his discharge in May of 1946, going to Hollywood. One interesting letter from Barbie Fellenbaum, ARC  leaving port in NYC with Red Cross and Officers. Also an interesting letter from Harold about going into college after Navy and whether his parents can lend him the 0 -0 needed for school, also discusses suicide by gunshot of a family friend with his mother, a Mr. Terry.
Letters are all mostly handwritten , a few were typed by Harold.  Most all of them have the envelopes and postage, air mail stamps etc.

2 claim slips from Yorgeys Fine Cleaners Mount Joy, PA for Harold Fellenbaum dated 2001
Mortgage Loan papers for Dr. Harold H. and Jean B. Fellenbaum for 30 South Market Street, Mt Joy, PA. Dated 1976.

What a wealth of information and a glimpse into the life of a naval trainee during WWII for him and his family.
