    Description

Here is a lot of 18 early correspondence letters. 10 of the letters are from Athelyn Sirman Redish of Dagsboro Delaware to Francis Collions Redish of Newark, Maryland. Dated starting around 1915, the letters mostly detail Athelyn's travels as a telegraph operator on the local railroads. There are mentions of the construction of Dupont Highway, trips to Ocean City, local popular last names, sicknesses, and other subjects. Athelyn spends a good bit of time apologizing for not writing more ofter (which, as a postcard collector, I have found to be a popular theme at the time!). Athelyn and Francis did eventually marry, and had a daughter, Mae Reddish Harrison. There are alsos several letters in the lot addressed to her from various people.
