Nutricote 13-13-13 Type 270 with Micronutrient is the Grow Formula.
Directions: Sprinkle the fertilizer around plants in the spring or fall at the rate of 3 tablespoons per 4 square feet or 1 teaspoon per 4-inch plant. Work the fertilizer into the top 3 inches of soil or mulch. This slow release fertilizer lasts up to 9 months.
Nutricote 13-13-13 Type 270 with Micronutrient is a high-quality compound fertilizer coated with a unique resin to ensure precise, controlled release of nutrients. Nutricote Total also contains all essential micronutrients that your plants require. This Type 270 (or T-270) will release 80% of its nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium evenly over a six-month (270-day) period when utilized at a constant temperature of 77° F. Nutricote is characterized by coating nitrate compound fertilizers with a special resin. The duration of nutrient release is controlled by the composition of the resin and the kind and quality of a special "chemical release agent" added to the resin. This special release agent has resulted in a dramatic technological improvement in the consistency and precision of nutrient release from Nutricote controlled release fertilizers. When Nutricote is applied to the soil, the water in the soil enters the granule through micro pores, dissolving the nutrient elements in the granule. The nutrient elements will then be released steadily through the same pores based on the amount of the special release agent. This allows all Nutricote granules to be very uniform in size and thickness of coating. Most Nutricote granules are 3 to 4 mm in diameter.
    Nutricote Qualities:
    - True control of nutrient release based on temperature
    - Optimum fertilizer levels are maintained because leaching of nutrients is minimized
    - Highest degree of crop safety
    - Flexibility of release periods from 40 to 360 days at 25º C
    - Resin coating is very smooth and uniform with no breaks or cracked material that could allow uncontrolled release of nutrients
    - Uniform particle size allows easier and precise mechanical distribution
    - Only the highest quality N, P, & K
    - High nitrate nitrogen content.
A benefit of this unique controlled release feature means increased rate of nutrient release when temperatures are warmer to coincide with the growth of your plants. Similarly, the nutrient release will slow with cooler temperatures.
Nutricote is effective for orchids, greenhouse vegetables, African violets, bedding plants, nursery crops, and many other plants. Please see the application chart and label here.
Nutricote may be used in conjunction with liquid fertilizers to promote optimal growth. Just decrease the recommended dose of Nutricote while augmenting with liquid fertilizers.
A Note from Heavenly Orchid. This is what we use ourselves and this really is great stuff. With Nutricote you don't forget to fertilize and the new growths are large and strong. It is also the industrial version of dynamyte sold at home improvement stores. Do not use osmocote. It is known to release its fertilizers unevenly and may burn your delicate plants!
